4. Mykonos

Mykonos is one of the Greek islands belonging to the Cyclades archipelago and also a popular destination for tourists and travelers. Even for queer ones: In the 1970s, a bar called Pierro's was founded here, which functioned as a tourist bastion and a gay club, and even Tina Turner visited it... Unfortunately, the original club closed in 2008, but the establishment continues to operate under the name Voodoo.

3. Florence

You probably know Florence from history classes as one of the centers of the Italian Renaissance, also associated with the inventor Leonardo da Vinci. But it is also one of the places where sex between men flourished at the same time, despite the fact that it was punishable by death. Fortunately, that has now ended in the dustbin of history and today you no longer have to be ashamed of your LGBT+ identity in Florence. What's more, in 1974 the first Italian gay disco called Tabasco was opened here, and even though it is no longer operating, you can at least pay your respects to it in Piazza Santa Cecilia.

2. Barcelona

Barcelona is a city famous for its beaches and architectural gems – but did you know that the first LGBT+ pride march took place here in 1977? But the city wasn’t always happy, for example, the year before the 1991 Summer Olympics, when transgender sex worker Sonia Rescalvo was murdered in the Citadel Park and a monument was built in the same place. But let’s end with something positive: Barcelona is also home to the LGBT+ publishing house Egales .
